A New Era
Dear Friends of New Century Trust,
When I assumed the role of Executive Director of New Century Trust in 2016, I had no idea what a pivotal time the next three years would be for women and girls in our country. It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride where we have won great victories while bearing great losses. Through it all, I have felt honored to lead this historic organization into what I think will be one of its most impactful chapters. That is why it is bittersweet for me to announce that I will be moving on from my role here in June. The decision was a difficult one, but my sadness is tempered by my overwhelming enthusiasm for our next Executive Director.
The Board and I are thrilled to announce that Farrah Parkes will be the next Executive Director of New Century Trust. Throughout her career, Farrah has exhibited a longstanding commitment to the advancement of women and girls, particularly through her leadership roles at the City of Philadelphia and Lutheran Settlement House. In addition, her Board service with organizations like the Valentine Foundation and Bread and Roses reveal a drive towards community-based social justice that aligns well with New Century Trusts interest in community organizing and policy change. The road ahead for New Century Trust is an exciting one. This year we are increasing our grant-making six-fold from last year, aligning our investments to our mission, and building a strong, collaborative network of foundations that will help to support women and girls throughout the region.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us get there. New Century Trust looks forward to continuing this journey with
you long into the future.
